Acknowledgment of Risk

I, the undersigned, acknowledge and fully understand that participation in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and related activities at Riff Raff Grappling Club involves significant physical activity, including but not limited to grappling, physical contact with others, and strenuous exertion. I understand that BJJ is a high-risk contact sport where injuries, including but not limited to sprains, fractures, muscle strains, dislocations, and other serious injuries, may occur.

I acknowledge that participation in training, sparring, competition, or any other activities at Riff Raff Grappling Club is entirely voluntary. I accept all risks associated with the activity, including those that may result from my own actions or the actions, omissions, or negligence of others.

Release of Liability

In consideration of being permitted to participate in activities at Riff Raff Grappling Club, I hereby release, discharge, and hold harmless Riff Raff Grappling Club, its owners, operators, instructors, employees, volunteers, agents, representatives, affiliates, and any other participants (hereinafter referred to as “Released Parties”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action that may arise from my participation, including but not limited to:

• Personal injury (including death)

• Damage to or loss of property

• Any other losses or damages, whether known or unknown, foreseen or unforeseen

This waiver applies regardless of whether such injury or damage is caused in whole or in part by the negligence, breach of duty, or any other act or omission of the Released Parties.

Medical Consent

I certify that I am in good physical health and have no medical conditions or injuries that would make my participation in BJJ unsafe. I agree to notify Riff Raff Grappling Club of any such condition if it arises during training.

I consent to receive medical treatment, which may be deemed advisable in the event of injury, accident, or illness during training or related activities, and I agree to bear the cost of such treatment.

Assumption of Responsibility

I understand that I am responsible for my personal belongings and that the Released Parties are not liable for any loss, theft, or damage to personal property while attending training or events at Riff Raff Grappling Club.

Indemnification

I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all claims, demands, liabilities, and causes of action that may arise as a result of my participation in activities at Riff Raff Grappling Club or from any breach of this waiver.

Photography & Media Acknowledgment

I acknowledge and understand that Riff Raff Grappling Club may take photos and videos during classes, open mat sessions, and other gym activities. These images may be used for promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media, the club’s website, or other marketing materials.

I understand that if I do not wish to be included in photos or videos, it is my responsibility to notify gym management and tick the box below:

Membership Terms

Membership at Riff Raff Grappling Club may be cancelled at any time.

To pause or place a membership on hold:

• A minimum of two (2) weeks’ written notice is required.

• Memberships may only be placed on hold if the member is away for a period greater than 14 consecutive days, or in the case of injury.

• Injury-related membership holds will be assessed on a case-by-case basis

Under-18 Participant (13–17 Years Old)

If the participant is aged between 13 and 17 years old, this waiver must also be signed by a parent or legal guardian, who accepts full responsibility for the minor’s participation.

Parent/Guardian Consent
I, the parent/guardian of the participant named below, consent to their participation in training and activities at Riff Raff Grappling Club. I acknowledge and agree to all terms outlined in this waiver and release of liability.

Governing Law

This waiver shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

Severability

If any provision of this waiver is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Acknowledgment of Understanding

I have carefully read this Waiver and Release of Liability, fully understand its contents, and voluntarily sign it of my own free will. I acknowledge that by signing this document, I am giving up substantial legal rights, including the right to sue the Released Parties.
